The NATM staff works with more than 750 national and international members to help them in several areas.

Compliance Verification Program
NATM Compliance Consultants visit member manufacturing facilities biennially to review the members manufacturing processes and ensure the processes are in place to build trailers that meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS). Participation in the program is a requirement of membership for all trailer manufacturers. Once a manufacturer successfully completes the program they may purchase and place NATM Compliance Decals on their trailers.

Guidelines
The Guidelines for Minimum Manufacturing Practices for Light- and Medium-Duty Trailers (Guidelines) is a compilation of FMVSS and industry recommended best practices relating to trailer manufacturing. Federal regulations and legislation are continuously monitored to ensure NATM members have the latest information concerning regulations governing trailer manufacturing. The Guidelines are provided to all members as a benefit of membership.

Member Education
Keeping abreast of the latest changes in the trailer manufacturing industry is an ongoing task. Members are kept informed through Tracks, NATM’s bi-monthly magazine, educational workshops at the convention, webinars, eNews and member alerts.

Technical Resources
The NATM Technical Director, along with the Technical Committee, keep abreast of technical issues in the industry. The Technical Committee meets monthly to review ongoing issues and the Technical Director is available to answer member questions. The Technical Director also conducts research on issues that may have an impact on the industry and works with other industry organizations on joint projects.

Advocacy
NATM staff and Government Affairs Analysts continuously monitor regulations and legislation that may impact the industry. Since by statute trailers are defined as motor vehicles, trailer manufacturers are often caught up in regulations intended for cars and light trucks. NATM continuously monitors to ensure that new regulations are written so that trailer manufacturers can comply.

Networking
NATM sponsors an Annual Convention &Trade Show allowing suppliers the opportunity to exhibit the latest in products and services for trailer manufacturers. This three-day event also gives members an opportunity to network with peers and supports NATM’s motto “Members Do Business With Members.”
